Padelya tells you when something happens to a match you're in, a booking you made, or a club you follow. Here is exactly what we send, how to switch each channel on and off, and what to check when nothing reaches you.
What you get as a player
- Your matches. Someone asks to join, a seat is taken, the last seat fills, the match is confirmed the day before, or it is cancelled. If an open match is short of players we warn the host 24 hours then 6 hours before; if the seats never fill, the match is cancelled on its own and everyone who had joined is told straight away.
- Reminders. 24 hours before your booking, 2 hours before the match, and a last "you're up next" 30 minutes before.
- After the match. A nudge to enter the score, a message when another player enters it — you then have 2 hours to contest — and a note when your level moves.
- Your join requests. Approved, declined, or closed because the match filled up first.
- Chat. The first message on one of your matches, then the ones that follow.
- Around you. New open matches, tournaments and coaching sessions in your city, and offers from the clubs you added to your favourites.
- Bookings and account. Booking confirmed, a card declined, a refund completed, a data export ready, and every step of an account deletion.
- The Sunday digest. One email a week with what's on in your city. It has its own switch.
What you get as a club
- Decisions waiting on you. A player asks to join one of your open matches or a coaching session, or a captain registers a team for your tournament.
- Matches that need a nudge. An open match you created is still short of players 24 hours before it starts.
- Americano rankings. A reminder to publish the ranking after the session, and a firmer one if it is still unpublished a month later.
- Money. Your statement is finalised, a payout could not reach your bank, a chargeback was opened on a booking.
- Your calendar. A Padelya booking overlaps an event imported from your own calendar, a booking has to be keyed in by hand because your system cannot be written to, or a recurring template failed to create its slots.
- Your club. The account is activated, or someone accepts your invitation to join the team.
Club messages go to every owner of the club, never to one single mailbox — so a manager on holiday does not stall a decision.
The three channels, and which ones you choose
- In app. The bell, and the Notifications list behind it. Always on: it is the app's own record of what happened, so nothing is ever lost there.
- Email. Sent to your account address. You can turn it off.
- Push. A banner on your phone or your computer, even when Padelya is closed. You can turn it off, one device at a time.
Two rules keep the volume sane. At most 4 push and 3 emails per person per 24 hours; and nothing is pushed between 22:00 and 08:00 in your own time zone. Urgent things ignore both: a cancellation, a match starting in 2 hours or in 30 minutes reaches you at any hour. Emails that are a record rather than a nudge — booking confirmation, failed payment, refund, suspension, account deletion, a club's monthly statement — are never held back by the daily ceiling either.
A cancelled match can also be sent as a text message, but only when your profile carries a mobile number.
Turning notifications on
Everything lives in one place: Profile → Edit profile → Notifications. You get one switch per family — offers from favourite clubs, score reminders, match invites, the weekly digest — and one per channel, Email and Push.
Push needs one extra step, because the browser owns that permission, not us:
- Flip the Push switch, or tap Allow notifications on the banner at the top of your profile or your club cockpit.
- Your browser asks. Answer Allow.
- Done — for this browser, on this device. Push is per device: switching it on your phone does not switch it on your laptop.
On iPhone and iPad, Safari only delivers web push to an app that lives on the Home Screen. Open padelya.app in Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen, then open Padelya from that icon and turn Push on there. In an ordinary Safari tab the switch stays greyed out. That is an iOS rule, not a Padelya fault.
Nothing arrives — what to check
- The Push switch is greyed out and says you blocked it. You answered "Block" once, and after that no site is allowed to ask again. Reopen it from the browser: the padlock or the icon next to the address bar → Site settings → Notifications → Allow. Then come back and flip the switch.
- The switch says your browser doesn't support push. Private windows and a few older browsers have no service worker. Try a normal window, or another browser.
- You're on an iPhone and Padelya is not on your Home Screen. See the step above — this is the single most common cause on iOS.
- You cleared your browsing data. That erases the push subscription with it. Turn Push off and on again to register the device afresh.
- It's the middle of the night. Non-urgent push waits until 08:00 in your time zone.
- You already received several today. The ceiling of 4 push and 3 emails holds the rest back until the next day. Nothing is lost: they are all in the in-app list.
- The email isn't there. Look in your spam folder first, then check that Email is still on in your notification settings.
Turning them off
Same place — Profile → Edit profile → Notifications:
- Turn Push off to unsubscribe the device you are on. Repeat on your other devices.
- Turn Email off to stop the notification emails.
- Turn the weekly digest off on its own, if that is the only one you don't want.
- Turn a family off — offers, score reminders, match invites — to keep the channel and lose only that kind of message.
Every Padelya email carries a link to these settings in its footer, so you can unsubscribe straight from the message.
Two things stay on. The in-app list, because it is the app's own record of what happened to your bookings. And the emails that document a transaction: a booking confirmation, a failed payment, a refund, a suspension, an account deletion, a club statement. Those exist so you keep a proof, not so you come back.
