This page explains what cookies are, which ones Padelya uses, and how you control them. It supplements the Privacy Policy (Section 10).
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files saved on your device when you visit a website. They are used to remember information across page navigations and visits — for example, to keep you signed in, persist your language choice, or remember whether you've consented to non-essential cookies.
This page also covers the equivalent technologies that Padelya uses to the same effect: HTML5 local storage, session storage, and IndexedDB. Wherever we say "cookie" below, the same rules apply to those technologies.
2. Cookies we use today
Strictly necessary (no consent required)
These cookies are required for Padelya to function. They are set by Padelya, never by third parties.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-* | Supabase authentication session (sign-in state, JWT, refresh token) | Session + 30 days (refresh token) |
| __padelya_locale | Remembers your language choice across visits | 1 year |
| __padelya_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent decision | 1 year |
Without these cookies, you cannot sign in, your language choice is not remembered, and the consent banner would re-appear on every page load.
Functional (consent required — currently none active)
We don't set any functional cookies today. The category is reserved in the consent banner so that — if a future feature requires one (e.g. a "remember my filters" toggle) — we can opt you in transparently rather than retrofitting consent later.
Analytics (consent required — currently none active)
We don't set any analytics cookies today. We plan to enable anonymous product analytics via PostHog as part of BACK-280; when that ships, the analytics cookies will appear in this table and the existing consent banner will gate their loading. You'll be re-prompted only if the consent shape changes (e.g. new vendors are added).
The proposed inventory:
| Name (planned) | Vendor | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ph_* | PostHog | Anonymous product analytics (page views, feature usage) | 1 year |
Third-party cookies
We do not currently set any third-party cookies. We do not embed third-party advertising trackers. If that ever changes, this section is updated and the banner re-prompts.
3. How to control cookies
You have three controls:
- The cookie consent banner — shown to every new visitor (and every visitor whose consent has expired). One click rejects all non-essential cookies; one click accepts; or open "Customize" to toggle individual categories.
- The cookie preferences page — open your profile settings (
/play/profile/edit) and look for the "Cookie preferences" section. You can revoke or refine your consent at any time. - Your browser settings — every modern browser allows you to block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear existing cookies. Note: blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent Padelya from working (you won't be able to sign in).
4. Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever we add or remove cookies. Material changes (new vendors, new categories) re-trigger the consent banner so you can re-decide.
